Nanotechnology

Nanoscience

Nanoscience is the science that studies the behaviour of matter at a very low scale, usually under 100nm.

Nanotechnology

Nanotechnology develops tools and techniques for the manipulation of matter at the nanometric scale (from 0.1 to 100nm.), and products with new properties only found at that, very low, scale.

Thereby nanotechnology advances in two linked fronts:

  • Generation of tools and processes for manipulation at Nano-scale.
  • Generation of nano products and applications.

At last, on working at a quasi-atomic scale makes  nanotechnology a very horizontal knowledge area (independently of the product manipulation rules are similar) which connects chemistry, physics, biology...Therefore it represents an emergent tendency that will remain in the long-term, being this the reason why several "Development Plans" from organizations and countries all around the world attribute so much relevance to it.
